It’s several years since I’ve posted.
There are a lot of reasons. I needed to take a break from digital, but it wasn’t supposed to be for so long. I’m trying to bring myself back into the world. I’ve got loads to talk about, but I think I should probably start small.
I haven’t written fic for years, either. Partly that was because I was working on a novel. Unfortunately that’s still a work in progress. The other reason was time; my job got really busy and I found I had very little space left in my head for, well, all the stuff that used to be fun. But I have a new job, now, less stress, a bit more time on my hands.
So, it’s time to see if I can remember how this fanfic thing works.
My longest fic, is a Stargate SG-1 AU, Phoenix. I have spent some time revising this, added some stuff, closed a couple of plot holes (although there’s one left that bugs me, which I can’t figure out how to fix) and generally smartened up the writing and killed typos.
I actually wrote a whole new chapter, but I ended up not including it. The original flows well, and this new bit – it’s a Sam-centric piece that belongs near the beginning, as the action moves to the new off-world base – felt wrong in there. I’m mulling over a possible sequel and if this idea goes somewhere that new chapter can be the prologue. If not, I will post it on AO3 as a “bonus” story…but let me know if you’d like to see it here.
I also have something new to share!
No idea why Stargate SG-1 is the fandom that’s got me writing again, but this just happened. I stopped watching Stargate at season 7; the fandom wasn’t fun any more and Atlantis never lit my imagination in the same way. Never saw the movies or the other series. But I’m rewatching (from the beginning – I’m currently in season 4) and we’ll see what happens when I get to the episodes I’ve never seen.
In the meantime, I offer Lost in Translation – a wee bit of smut inspired by my rewatch.
